As you may already know, SEO stands for “search engine optimization,” and it is a process meant to help improve the visibility of your website. To look at it another way, when someone searches for specific terms that are related to your field of business on a search engine such as Bing, Google or Yahoo!, they will locate your site as a trusted website for the search query. Proper SEO can drive traffic to your site.
There are many ways to improve your search result ranking, and we’ll discuss six of the main ones in the rest of this article.
Audit Your Website
Look over your website and find all the spots where you could shore up the data with SEO terms. These spaces can be considered low-hanging fruit for your objective. Once you do this, you will be able to create an action plan. You’ll use this action plan to determine what changes need to be made and where those changes will take place.
Research Your Competition
After you’ve audited your site and updated everything you saw from the audit, the next step is to research your competition. When you take the time to research your competition, you’ll be perusing their website with an eagle-eyed focus. Check all parts of their website, from the content to their call to action, and also make sure to see where their website(s) rank in the search results.
Even if you don’t find too much that is helpful specifically regarding SEO terms, researching your competition can help you determine who you’re competing against. Doing this can help you determine what works in your field of business, what doesn’t work and what you might want to adapt for your own needs.
Do Keyword Research
Of course, as part of your SEO research, you must have a good idea of what terms are best for your business. There are websites out there that you can use to find the best SEO terms for your field of business. Make sure to narrow your search to your area to find the best keywords that people are searching for.
When it comes to real estate, some of the most common keywords are, “Sell my house fast in <city name here>,” or, “We buy houses in <city name here>.” You might also try, “Buying houses for cash in <city name here>.” However, do your research on SEO keyword sites to make sure you’re aware of what is best for you to use.
Once you have a list of the most popular keywords, list them in order of relevance and search volume, or how many people are searching for a specific phrase in a month. Once you have that list of relevant SEO terms, start using them in applicable spots on your site.
Create Unique Content
Another great way to make use of those SEO terms you just searched for is to make sure that you’re using them with unique content. If you’ve used a website generator or if you find that your content is very similar to content that is already out there, it’s time to change it up. Duplicate content confuses the search engine, and it will also move you down in the search results.
Unique content will help elevate your website and give you a higher chance of outranking your competition. It helps if you use target and secondary SEO keywords in your title tag, meta description and body content. Doing this helps search engines find your page and count your website as a relevant source for whatever keyword is being searched.
Consider User Experience
Make sure that your website is tailored to the experience that the user is searching for. You can use all the SEO keywords in the world, but if the content of your site doesn’t relate to those keywords, you’ll drive potential customers away.
This means that if you’re using keywords related to finding motivated sellers, you shouldn’t have content that is specifically for home remodeling or interior and exterior home design services. Make sure that your content is relevant to the specific keywords so that customers can find what they’re looking for.
Consider this an extra tip: The inclusion of blogs is a great way to add additional content to your website. Blogs can also provide additional places for you to include important SEO keywords that don’t naturally fit in your main website.
